| Tom & Owen, eldest of six kids, left home in their teens drifting in to traveling shows, road companies and vaudeville (Four of the six Moore children would eventually work in the movies.1 1/22/2001, "When Owen Moore first came to the US from Ireland, he stayed with Jim's grandmother (who was an aunt of my grandfather). Jim's grandmother always referred to Owen as a cousin. Jim and I got in touch a few years back due to our shared interest in genealogy. I followed up many of the leads in Ireland which Jim provided on Irish cousins who emigrated to the US. After several months, we discovered that Owen Moore was not actually related to us by blood. Jim's grandmother was Teresa Tobin and her mother was Theresa Kiernan. A first-cousin of Theresa Kiernan's, named Mary Kiernan, married Matt Moore from Fordstown, Co. Meath. This Matt Moore was an uncle of Owen, Matt and Tom Moore (i.e. the silent movie stars). So there is not a direct relationship between our family and the Moores - but the families were obviously quite close as Owen stayed with Teresa when he came to the USA first." | ||||||||||||
